RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH AND ACCEPT NOT MORE THAN $100,000 IN FUNDS FROM THE STATE OF MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY TO CREATE A REGISTERED APPRENTICESHIP HUB FOR THE NORTHEAST REGION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NORTHEAST MINNESOTA OFFICE OF JOB TRAINING.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute and implement an agreement, substantially in the form of the attached, with and accept funds in an amount not more than $100,000 from the state of Minnesota department of labor and industry to create a registered apprenticeship hub for the northeast region in partnership with the Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training for the period of the date the State obtains all required signatures on the agreement through June 30, 2027. Monies received under this agreement will be deposited in and paid from Fund 268 (workforce development), Agency 031 (grants division), Organization 6255 (general).

 

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes proper city officials to enter into an agreement and accept funds in an amount not more than $100,000 with the state of Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. Funds will be used to create a registered apprenticeship hub for the northeast region in partnership with the Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training as outlined in Exhibit B of the agreement. Under the terms of this grant agreement, Duluth Workforce Development will work with employers interested in creating apprenticeship programs, and will train workforce staff, high school teachers, and counselors, and others about apprenticeship opportunities in the area. The effective date of this agreement will be the date the State obtains all required signatures on the agreement through June 30, 2027, or until all obligations have been satisfactorily fulfilled, whichever occurs first. Monies received under this agreement will be deposited in Fund 268 (workforce development), Agency 031 (grants division), Organization 6255 (general). This request is budgeted through Workforce Development grant funds and is operational in nature.
