RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE A SAFE ROUTE TO SCHOOL (SRTS) GRANT FROM THE MINNESOTA STATE TRANSPORTATION FUND FOR THE DEVONSHIRE STREET RECONSTRUCTION AND LINCOLN PARK MIDDLE SCHOOL SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $293,046.00.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the City of Duluth has applied to the Commissioner of Transportation for a grant from the Minnesota State Transportation Fund for a Safe Route to School Grant for the Devonshire Street Reconstruction and Lincoln Park Middle School Safe Routes to School Improvements, City Project no 2101.

FURTHER RESOLVED, the Commissioner of Transportation has given notice that funding for this project is available and that the amount of the grant is $293,046.00.

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Duluth does hereby agree to the terms and conditions of the grant consistent with Minnesota Statutes, section 174.52 and will pay any additional amount by which the cost exceeds the estimate, and will return to the Minnesota State Transportation Fund any amount appropriated for the project but not required.  The proper city officers are authorized to execute a grant agreement and any amendments thereto with the Commissioner of Transportation, substantially in the form of the attached Exhibit A, concerning the above-referenced grant. Grant monies shall be deposited into Permanent Improvement Fund 411, Department/Agency 035 (Capital Projects Accounts, Object 4220-01 (State of Minnesota Capital), City Project No. 2101, S.A.P. 118-591-009.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the acceptance of a grant from the Minnesota State Transportation Fund for the Devonshire Street Reconstruction and Lincoln Park Middle School Safe Routes to School Improvements in the amount of $293,046.00. The City will provide the 20% percent match to the SRTS grant. Grant monies shall be deposited into Permanent Improvement Fund 411, Department/Agency 035 (Capital Projects Accounts, Object 4220-01 (State of Minnesota Capital), City Project No. 2101, S.A.P. 118-591-009.
