Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes application to the Minnesota Department of Transportation for a Transportation Alternative Program grant in the amount of $440,000 to build portions of Segment 4 of the Campus Connector Trail.  This segment was identified for improvement in the Campus Connector Trail Mini Master Plan.  Recall that Segment 2 of the trail was constructed in 2016, and the city was recently awarded funding for Segment 5 to be constructed in 2026.This project will consist of removal of the existing 6-foot sidewalk and installation of a 10-foot shared use path.

The Transportation Alternative program is a reimbursable program, meaning recipients of the funds will front the costs of the project, then submit pay requests for reimbursement.  Infrastructure projects chosen in this solicitation must be ready for construction during the 2027 construction season.
