CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute an amendment to the agreement with LHB Engineers & Architects (LHB) for landscape architectural design services for Duluth Lakewalk and Brighton Beach, for an increase of $299,864.00, and a new total not to exceed $347,887.00, payable from funds as follow:
$108,620.00 450-030-5535-CP450-20BOND-LKWALK (capital improvements; finance; improvements other than buildings; capital projects - other fund contributions; MN state bonds 2020; Lakewalk shoreline hazard mitigation).
$169,054.00 450-030-5535-CP450-20BOND-BBEACH (capital improvements; finance; improvements other than buildings; capital projects - other fund contributions; MN state bonds 2020; Brighton Beach)
$22,190.00 225-125-1815-5310-STRM1018 (disaster recovery fund; finance; contract services; storm surge October 10, 2018).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes an amendment to the agreement with LHB for landscape architectural design services for Duluth Lakewalk and Brighton Beach
Building upon the existing predesign, LHB has broken out the scope of services to reflect separate but parallel bid projects for the Lakewalk and Brighton Beach areas. LHB will work with AMI Consulting Engineers to incorporate their scope of services for the Brighton Beach shoreline stabilization and naturalization work.
Maps depicting work areas are included in the attached proposal, and the following four primary work areas are listed below.
• Lakewalk Landscape Design
• Brighton Beach Landscape Design
• Brighton Beach Shoreline Stabilization for Coastal Protection Areas
• Brighton Beach Shoreline Stabilization for FEMA Section
This work will be funded through both FEMA and a budgeted $5.5M in city bonds.
