Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes application to the Minnesota Department of Transportation for a Transportation Alternative Program grant in the amount of $600,000 to provide Transit Amenities Citywide such as new sidewalk along key transit activity centers, replace poor sidewalk at Bus stops, and improve ADA ramps.
The Transportation Alternative program is a reimbursable program, meaning recipients of the funds will front the costs of the project, then submit pay requests for reimbursement. Infrastructure projects chosen in this solicitation must be ready for construction during the 2028 construction season.
If we receive the funding the City will work with the DTA to prioritize the work in conjunction with the recommendations in the Better Bus Blueprint. The match from the grant would be funded from fund 290.
