RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT A $95,000 GRANT AWARD FROM THE OFFICE OF NATIONAL DRUG CONTROL POLICY, HIGH INTENSITY DRUG TRAFFICKING AREAS (HIDTA) PROGRAM, TO BE USED FOR EXPENSES INCURRED DURING PARTICIPATION IN THE LAKE SUPERIOR DRUG CORRIDOR INITIATIVE.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept a grant award from the office of national drug control policy, high intensity drug trafficking areas (HIDTA) program, in the total amount of $95,000.00, said monies to be used by the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force for expenses incurred during participation in the Lake Superior Drug Corridor Initiative, and further are authorized to execute a grant agreement substantially the same as the attached Document A, funds to be deposited in Fund No. 215-200-2230-4209-02 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, HIDTA, Direct Federal Grant Operating) and expenses to be paid from Fund No. 215-200-2230-5219 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, HIDTA, Other Miscellaneous Supplies), 215-200-2230-5331 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, HIDTA, Travel/Training), 215-200-2230-5414 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, HIDTA, Software Licenses & Maintenance Agreements), 215-200-2230-5441 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, HIDTA, Other Services & Charges) and 215-200-2230-5476 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, HIDTA, Police Confidential Funds).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to accept a grant from the Office of National Drug Control Policy in the amount of $95,000.00 to support the activities of the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force in connection with its participation in the HIDTA Program. The Duluth Police Department is a member of the Task Force and also its fiscal agent. Funds may be used for supplies, training, travel and other services. The period of the grant award is from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2025.
