Body
CITY PROPOSAL:
WHEREAS, resolution 22-0848R authorized acceptance of a $500,000 Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund grant from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to support recreational access along the St. Louis River Estuary; and
WHEREAS, resolution 24-0571R authorized acceptance of federal funding in an amount of $1,275,000 through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of the Interior National Park Service, with said funds also supporting implementation of expanded recreational access through the extension of Waabizheshikana: The Marten Trail; and
WHEREAS, an amendment is needed to complete required federal and state reviews of the project and align the funding expiration date of the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund grant with the federal funding expiration date of September 30, 2027.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized to execute the first amendment to the grant agreement (City contract No. 24423) with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, substantially in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A, extending the term of the contract to September 30, 2027.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the second amendment to the grant agreement (City contract No. 24617) with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MNDNR) to extend the term of the agreement to align the expiration date with the federal funding expiration date of September 30, 2027.
The funding from this grant agreement, along with other awarded state and federal grants, will support an approximately $6 million Waabizheshikana extension and trailhead improvement project. The extension accommodates the additional time needed to complete the required federal and state reviews of the project. The amendment does not alter the amount of the award, nor does it change the scope of the project.
