Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of a 2021 cab and chassis, and outfitting the same for snow removal and sanding operations. This unit will replace unit 3368.
The 2014-2015 Fleet Study found that, in order to minimize total City vehicle costs for purchase and maintenance, vehicles of this kind should be replaced when they reach 12 years old. Unit 3368, purchased in 2009 for $131,683, is 11 years old and has incurred $207,552.78 (158% of its value) in maintenance costs to date.
Boyer Truck is a vendor on Minnesota State contract release T-647(5) and has provided a quote lower than state contract pricing. The outfitting purchase is against Minnesota state contract 167117, release S-863(5). The purchase price will be further reduced by the trade-in value of unit 3368, which will be determined at the time of trade-in in the spring of 2021.
