RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH GREYSTONE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THREE BRINE SALT MATERIAL SHEDS FOR THE TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $131,690.00

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with Greystone Construction Company for the construction of three brine salt material sheds for the total amount not to exceed $131,690.00, payable from funds: 290-500-5535 (street system maintenance utility, Public Works and Utilities, non-capital improvements).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a contract with Greystone Construction Company for the construction of three brine salt material sheds for the total amount not to exceed $131,690.00.

The Purchasing division issued a Request for Quotes (RFQ) on March 2, 2026. Due to the estimated dollar amount of this project, formal sealed bids were not required. Only one quote was received and it was from Greystone Construction Company. They were deemed responsive.

These material sheds will allow the Street Maintenance Department to store the specific brine salt needed to create salt brine for winter snowplowing operations. Salt brine is a key element for de-icing in winter maintenance and is also the recommended product set forth by the MPCA’s Smart Salting Program.
