Title

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT 22549 WITH BURNS & MCDONNELL ENGINEERING COMPANY, INC. AND A NEW CONTRACT TOTAL NOT TO EXCEED $685,000.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to execute an amendment to contract 22549 with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc., and a new contract amount not to exceed $685,000, payable from Fund 412-030-5520 (Cirrus building, finance department, buildings & structures).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes an amendment to Contract 22549 with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc., substantially in the form attached as Exhibit A, to increase the total contract amount by Two Hundred Twenty-Eight Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($228,500), for a new total contract not to exceed of Six Hundred Eighty-Five Thousand Dollars ($685,000).  A copy of the proposal is included as an attachment to Exhibit A.

The initial overall facility construction cost was anticipated to be Eight Million Dollars ($8,000,000), and Burns & McDonnell’s proposed fee represented 5.7% of that total cost.  After award, the size and complexity of the project expanded.  Total construction costs are now anticipated to be Twelve Million Dollars ($12,000,000).

Due to the growth of the scope of the project, the extended design timetables and the additional efforts required to reprogram the spaces for Cirrus, Burns & McDonnell has requested a proportional increase in their Professional Services fee to total of $685,000, still maintaining the fee at 5.7% of the current $12M facility construction cost.
