Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with TKDA for architectural and engineering services related to the Wade Stadium Building Improvements project as identified in the attached Exhibit A, for a total amount not to exceed $97,100.00, payable from fund 450-030-5319-CP450-WADE (capital improvements, finance, other professional services, capital projects - other fund contributions, Wade Stadium refurbishment).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes an agreement with TKDA for architectural and engineering services for the Wade Stadium Building Improvements project for a total amount not to exceed $97,100.00.

The services to be provided include on-site investigation, design development through construction drawings and specifications, assistance for bidding phase, construction administration and observation.

This project will focus on making improvements to the Wade Stadium building envelope and interior features to mitigate deterioration of various building systems and extend the use and enjoyment of the athletic venue. Areas of improvement include brick tuckpointing and replacement, repairs to masonry openings, roof system replacement, stormwater infiltration prevention, door replacement, concrete patching, painting and sealing.

Consistent with Council Resolution 23-0478R, Wade Stadium building design and construction costs are to be funded by $1.2 million in proceeds from a one-half-of-one-percent increment in both the City of Duluth food and beverage tax and the City of Duluth hotel/motel tax authorized by the State of Minnesota and the Duluth City Council for investment in parks-based athletic venues in support of sports tourism and quality of life.
