Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to accept a grant from the Minnesota department of public safety in the amount of $176,006.  This is a one-year grant renewal.  The grant funding will be applied to the purchase of a new police vehicle, equipment, and the salary/fringe of a DWI officer investigator.  These pass-through federal funds have been made available to the eight counties in Minnesota with the most impaired-related deaths and injuries.  The DWI officer will work peak nights and times when drinking and driving occurs.
