RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 709 TO PROVIDE FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Independent School District No. 709 to provide law enforcement officers in the public schools, said agreement to be substantially in the form of the attached Document A; payments from the school district to be deposited in Fund No. 110-160-1610-4261 (general, police, administration and investigation).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes an agreement between the city of Duluth and ISD No. 709 under which the city will provide law enforcement officers in the public schools. ISD No. 709 will pay the city $55,978.62 per officer in school year 2016-2017 for a total of $223,914.48 for four officers. ISD No. 709 will pay the city $57,097.56 per officer in school year 2017-2018 for a total of $228,390.24 for four officers. Payments will be made in June and December of each year. The current agreement between the parties will expire in June of 2016. This is a renewal agreement for the period beginning on June 1, 2016 and ending on June 6, 2018.
