RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH MINNESOTA POWER FOR JOINT CONSTRUCTION OF UTILITIES IN 6TH AVENUE EAST.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Minnesota Power, a division of ALLETE, Inc. for the joint construction of utility facilities in 6th Avenue East between East 1st Street and East 2nd Street, pursuant to which the City will construct the improvements as part of the project to extend 6th Avenue East and paid for with the Regional Exchange District bond fund, City Project no. 1966.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the city to enter into an agreement with Minnesota Power (“MP”) for the joint construction of new underground duct bank and conduit system in 6th Avenue East between East 1st Street and East 2nd Street. This construction will be incorporated into the City’s 6th Avenue East Extension Project where water, and storm utilities will also be constructed.
The City will contract for the construction and design of the project. The work will be paid for by the City using Regional Exchange District bond funds as site preparation for extension of the street.
