CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with Alfa Laval, Inc. for packaged steam to hot water energy transfer stations for the twenty-six buildings included in the district energy system conversion project for a total amount not to exceed $1,071,171.75, payable from fund 540-920-1499-5530 (Steam; Steam Department; Steam Non-Operating; Improvements Other than Buildings).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of individual steam to hot water energy transfer stations from Alfa Laval, Inc. for a total cost of $1,071,171.75. The energy transfer stations will be installed in twenty-six buildings involved in the district energy system conversion project, which will take place in conjunction with the reconstruction of Superior Street.
Purchasing issued an Invitation for Bids on October 31, 2017 and received one bid, from Danfoss, LLC, in the amount of $841,132. Danfoss’ bid was rejected for failure to meet the specifications as stated in the advertisement for bids. Purchasing issued a subsequent request for bids on December 6, 2017 and again received only one bid. This bid, submitted by Alfa Laval, Inc., meets the specifications required and is recommended for award.
