CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to contract with Northland Constructors of Duluth for class 5 gravel for 2026 for the estimated annual amount of $332,300.00, payable from the following funds
$66,700.00 110-500-1920-5224 (general, Public Works and Utilities, street maintenance, gravel & other mtce. materials)
$13,280.00 520-500-1945-5224 (gas, Public Works and Utilities, utility operations, gravel & other mtce. materials)
$39,840.00 530-500-1945-5224 (sewer, Public Works and Utilities, utility operations, gravel & other mtce. materials)
$13,280.00 535-500-1945-5224 (stormwater, Public Works and Utilities, utility operations, gravel & other mtce. materials)
$199,200.00 510-500-1945-5224 (water, Public Works and Utilities, utility operations, gravel & other mtce. materials)
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of class 5 gravel from Northland Constructors of Duluth for an estimated annual amount of $332,300.00
The Utility Operations division will use recycled class 5 gravel, and the Street Maintenance division will use virgin class 5 gravel.
The City Purchasing division put out an Invitation to Bid for both the recycled and virgin material on December 12, 2025 and received 4 bids for the virgin material and 1 bid for the recycled. Northland Constructors of Duluth was the lowest responsive bidder for both the virgin and recycled class 5 gravel.
