CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into a contract with Northland Constructors of Duluth, a Division of Mathy Construction Company for installation of a 12” water main connecting the neighborhoods of Hidden Valley and Lakeside in the amount of $1,155,180.00, payable out of Water Fund 510, Department/Agency 500 (Public Works & Utilities), Division 1905 (Capital), Object 5533 (Capital Improvements - Revenue), city project no. 1741.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution will authorize construction of a 12” water main from Hidden Valley to Lakeside, through an easement to be acquired from Northland Country Club, by Northland Constructors of Duluth, for the amount of $1,155,180.00, payable from Water Fund 510, Department/Agency 500 (Public Works & Utilities), Division 1905 (Capital), Object 5533 (Capital Improvements - Revenue), city project no. 1741. Northland Constructors of Duluth was the lowest bidder of the three companies that responded. The engineer’s estimate was $1,100,000. This project is the first phase of several projects to supply water from the Middle Water Operation Zone to the Upper Lakeside Water Operation Zone, which will optimize efficiency, long term maintenance expenses, and reliability. This project will eliminate the need for the Upper Lakeside Tank, which is past its serviceable lifespan, and in future phases will allow the elimination of the Upper Lakeside Pump Station.
