Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes the city to accept a $4000 grant on behalf of the Duluth Climbers Coalition from the national nonprofit organization, the Access Fund, to help pay for the purchase of land from the Oneota Cemetery Association to be part of a new multi-use park  located in an abandoned quarry above the Cody neighborhood in West Duluth.

The Duluth Climbers Coalition was created to help the City of Duluth establish and improve a multi-use park that will include designated climbing areas, pedestrian trails, and trailheads for the Duluth Traverse and the Superior Hiking Trail.  The Coalition represents climbers of all disciplines, advocates for local climbers and climbing resources, and draws upon resources from throughout Duluth’s diverse climbing community.
