RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH NORDEX USA, INC. RELATING TO MODIFICATIONS TO THE INTERSECTION OF GARFIELD AVENUE AND WEST SUPERIOR STREET.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A, with Nordex USA, Inc. pursuant to which Nordex USA agrees to reimburse the city for a portion of the cost of traffic signal removal, installation of a temporary signal, reinstallation of an existing street light, and pavement modifications at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and West Superior Street in the city of Duluth in the amount of $13,300, to be deposited in Permanent Improvement Fund 411, Department 035 (Capital), Object 4654-02 (Other Reimbursements & Refunds).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution will authorize an agreement between the city and Nordex USA, Inc. for reimbursement by Nordex USA for a portion the city’s costs to remove a traffic signal, salvage and reinstall the street light located on the existing signal pole, and provide temporary signal improvements to the intersection of Garfield Avenue and West Superior Street. Nordex USA, Inc. desires to move wind turbine equipment and parts by truck from the Duluth Port Authority facilities north on Garfield Avenue, then east on West Superior Street. The traffic signal, street light and a raised median in their current locations would interfere with the trucks’ turning movements. The city will have the work performed as part of city project 1596 and city project 1869, and Nordex USA, Inc. will reimburse the city in the amount of $13,300.
