RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT WITH THE DULUTH TRANSIT AUTHORITY FOR SERVICES AND FUNDING OF ONE COMMUNITY BASED K-9 POLICE OFFICER FOR FIVE YEARS.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute an agreement, substantially the same as the attached Document A, with the Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) to fund one community based K-9 police officer for and over a period of five years and accepting an annual wage as reflected in the attached Document A. Said officer is to work with the DTA to improve transit riders’ safety, reduce crime and disorder, and improve quality of life to all areas serviced by the DTA at bus stops, hubs, on buses and other modes of transportation, funds to be deposited into Fund number 215-200-2212-4264 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, DTA Community Officer, Duluth Transit Authority).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to execute an agreement with the Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) for the services and funding for five years of a police officer assigned primarily to DTA sites. The police officer will work with the DTA to improve transit riders’ safety, reduce crime and disorder, and improve quality of life to all areas serviced by the DTA at bus stops, hubs, on buses and other modes of transportation.
