RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT A $33,910.00 GRANT AWARD FROM THE STATE OF MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS FOR THE PROJECT ENTITLED “2020 PROJECT SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS”.

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept a grant award from the state of Minnesota department of public safety, office of justice programs in the total amount of $33,910.00, and further are authorized to execute a grant agreement substantially the same as the attached Exhibit B for the Project Safe Neighborhoods, funds to be deposited in Fund No 215-200-2231-4210-02 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, Project Safe Neighborhoods, Pass-thru Federal Grants Operating) expenses to be paid from Fund No. 215-200-2231-5700-10 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, Project Safe Neighborhoods, Interfund Transfers Out to General Fund), 215-200-2231-5331 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, Project Safe Neighborhoods, Travel/Training), 215-200-2231-5219 (Duluth Police Grant Programs, Police, Project Safe Neighborhoods, Other Misc Supplies).

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to accept a grant whose budget is attached as Exhibit A from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety in the amount of $33,910.00 to be used as part of a planning process to gather relevant local violent crime and drug crime data and develop a program based on best and promising practices and evidence-based strategies geared toward reducing recidivism rates. The period of the grant award is from June 1, 2020 through August 31, 2021.
