Title

RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF STREET MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proposed amendments to the specifications for the existing civil service classification of street maintenance supervisor, which were approved by the civil service board on September 15, 2015, are approved; that said classification shall remain subject to the city’s collective bargaining agreement with its supervisory unit employees, that the pay range will change from Pay Range 1080, $5,114 to $6,265, to Pay Range 1075-1090, $4,985 to $6,546 per month.  The proper city officials are authorized to execute and implement an agreement with the union to provide for employing one or more unit members consistent with this resolution.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The street maintenance supervisor classification in the maintenance operations division of the public administration department was revised based on a recent audit to increase education and experience requirements and to add new responsibilities for oversight of the traffic maintenance work group which recently merged with street maintenance.

The street maintenance supervisor will supervise, organize, direct, and coordinate the work activities of street and traffic maintenance workers.

The pay rate negotiated for this classification is Range 1075-1090, pay rate of $4,985 to $6,546 per month.  This is a change from Range 1080, pay rate of $5,114 to $6,265 per month.
