CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into a three-year enterprise agreement, in the form substantially attached as exhibit A, with Microsoft via its reseller, SHI, for purchase and maintenance of enterprise-wide software licensing for an annual amount of $249,460.88 and a total amount of $748,382.64, payable from fund 110-121-1107-5414 (general fund, public administration, MIS, software licenses and maintenance agreements).

Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the City to enter into an enterprise agreement with Microsoft via its reseller, SHI, for the purchase and maintenance of enterprise-wide software licensing in the amount of $249,460.88 annually for three years. This agreement covers the maintenance of all Microsoft licenses including Windows Desktop, Office Suite, User Access, Remote Access, Windows Servers, Email Servers, SQL Database Servers, System Center Management, Visual Studio, Project and Visio for the City, with the exception of the Duluth Public Library which utilizes an education agreement.

By continuing the participation in an enterprise agreement, the City preserves security measures by maintaining a single software platform and staying current with supported software releases, as well as enterprise-level services for management, encryption, and anti-malware products. This agreement is critical to ensure effective and efficient communications amongst the many City departments, and allows for seamless integration with the other enterprise-level applications in use by the various City departments.
