RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NEW CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF SENIOR PLANS EXAMINER, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of senior plans examiner (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on May 16, 2023, are approved. This classification shall be subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 34, pay rate of $68,121 to $79,799 per year.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The new classification of senior plans examiner has been created to fulfill the need for very high level, expert competence in complex code related work and the need for mentorship and training for other staff. This position requires full Minnesota building official certification and will use advanced proficiency in interpreting and applying the building code and regulations. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 34, pay rate of $68,121 to $79,799 per year.
