CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of lead paralegal (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on November 10, 2020, are approved. This classification shall be subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its confidential unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 10, pay rate of $5,307 to $6,440 per month.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The new classification of lead paralegal has been created as a promotional opportunity for paralegals working in the city attorney's office. This classification will perform a variety of problem-solving, guidance, administrative, and support functions related to the operational workflow of the city attorney's office. Duties will include providing paralegal support in the labor and employment law, litigation, and legislative areas; performing related work as required by the city attorney or designee; and serving as a primary contact for city departments and external agencies. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 10, pay rate of $5,307 to $6,440 per month.
