RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF MAXWELL ROAD IF NECESSARY AS DETERMINED BY THE CITY ENGINEER FOR THE GLENWOOD STREET/SNIVELY ROAD PROJECT.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to close Maxwell Road from Skyline Parkway to Oak Street during the reconstruction of the Snively Road and Glenwood Street intersection if so ordered by the city engineer.
Statement of Purpose
This resolution approves the closure of Maxwell Road from Skyline Parkway to Oak Street to vehicular traffic if deemed necessary by the city engineer. The city engineer wants the flexibility to enforce a closure in case Seven Bridges Road is used as an alternate detour route during the reconstruction of the Snively Road and Glenwood Street intersection.
During construction the city is concerned that Seven Bridges Road via Maxwell Street may be used as an alternate route to the signed detour route when the Snively Road and Glenwood Street intersection is closed for construction. Seven Bridges Road is a narrow roadway with multiple single lane bridge crossings that likely will not be able to safely accommodate the increase in traffic due to the Snively Road and Glenwood Street intersection closure. Closing Maxwell Road will help deter additional traffic from using this alternate route. This resolution is intended to be enacted if needed, for the duration of the project.
