RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY OFFICIALS TO GIVE TO OFFICER KOPP A RETIRED POLICE CANINE NAMED MALAKAI.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the city of Duluth gives to Officer Rebecca Kopp of the city of Duluth police department, the police canine named Malakai who recently began suffering from spondylosis, which is osteoarthritis of the spine and a painful condition. Malakai is increasingly unable to enter or exit a vehicle due to this condition.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to execute any documents necessary to transfer ownership of Malakai to Rebecca Kopp.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The police canine, Malakai, has been retired from service with the Duluth police department. It has been practice of the city to give the aging police canines to their handlers upon the completion of the canine’s service to the city. This resolution authorizes transfer of ownership from the city to Rebecca Kopp.
