Title

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - VETERAN SERVICES PROVIDING STAFFING SERVICES AT THE DULUTH CAREERFORCE CENTER FOR THE PERIOD OF MARCH 1, 2024 - JUNE 30, 2026.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

Resolved, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement, substantially in the form of the attached Document A, with the state of Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development - Veteran Services (“DEED-VS”) providing staffing services at the Duluth CareerForce Center for a fee of $141.61 per week for the period of March 1, 2024 through June 30, 2026.  Funds to be deposited into fund no. 268-031-6251 (Workforce Development, Grants Division, Office Support, Miscellaneous Service).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes an agreement with DEED-VS pursuant to which the city will provide staffing services at the CareerForce Center.  DEED-VS is responsible for providing reception and career lab personnel staffing under an Infrastructure Funding Agreement at the Duluth CareerForce location.  Instead of providing personnel to meet its staffing obligations, DEED-VS wishes to pay the city to provide those services for the period of March 1, 2024 through June 30, 2026.  The city has the capacity and ability to provide the staffing services.  This request is budgeted through Workforce Development grant funds, and is operational in nature.
