RESOLVED, by the Duluth Economic Development Authority ("DEDA"), that the proper DEDA officials are hereby authorized to acquire by quitclaim deed the below-described tax-forfeited properties from the State of Minnesota through St. Louis County in support of redevelopment activities for the amount of $ $127,900.00, plus fees in the amount of $4,330.07 for a total sum of $ 132,230.07, payable from Fund 860-860-8640-5510, located in St. Louis County, Minnesota legally described as:.

 

Lots 1 through 8, Block 005, Randalls Division of Duluth, EXCEPT all mineral rights

AND

Lots 1 through 8, Block 006, Randalls Division of Duluth, EXCEPT all mineral Rights

AND

Lots 1 through 8, Block 007, Randalls Division of Duluth, EXCEPT all mineral rights

AND

Lots 1 through 8, Block 008, Randalls Division of Duluth, EXCEPT all mineral rights.

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this resolution is to authorize acquisition of real property from the State of Minnesota through St. Louis County to support housing development by private developers. The property located in the Duluth Heights neighborhood and is previously undeveloped. The Duluth Economic Development Authority (“DEDA”) intends to promptly sell this property to a private developer for purposes of assembling lots for infill housing development. The intended effect is to create new economic opportunity for the construction industry, expand the tax base of existing neighborhoods, and create new housing in the City.
