RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE TO THE PURCHASE ORDER TO GIANT VOICES FOR ADDITIONAL ADVERTISING SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF DULUTH’S SHARE OF THE EXPENSES AS PART OF THE HEAD OF THE LAKES NATURAL GAS GROUP IN THE AMOUNT OF $12,000 FOR A NEW TOTAL NOT TO EXCEED $46,507.42.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to increase the purchase order to Giant Voices for additional advertising services for the City of Duluth’s share of expenses through the Head of the Lakes Natural Gas Group in the amount of $12,000 for a new total not to exceed $46,507.42, payable as follows:

$34,002.42                     520-500-1915-5340 (gas fund, public works and utilities, utility general expense, advertising & promotion)

$12,500.00                      520-500-1915-5355 (gas fund, public works and utilities, utility general expense, printing & copying services)

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes an increase to the purchase order for the City’s share of expenses with the Head of the Lakes Natural Gas Group for public awareness media outreach performed by Giant Voices to remain in compliance with local, state and federal laws.  When two members withdrew from the group, the Head of the Lakes Natural Gas Group chose to work with Giant Voices to streamline the entire public outreach process and share the costs as a group.

This increase is due to additional advertising services necessitated by the American Petroleum Institute’s requirement for the Head of the Lakes Natural Gas Group to conduct surveys every four years and unforeseen increases in printing and media costs.
