CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to increase funding for contract C22736 with KTM Paving for Firehall #6 driveway in the amount of Twelve Thousand, Nine Hundred Sixty and 02/100th dollars ($12,960.02) for a new total contract amount of One Hundred Eleven Thousand, Eighteen and 02/100ths dollars ($118,018.02), payable from Capital Improvements Fund 450; Finance Department 030; Improvements Other Than Buildings 5530; Project CP2015-1510b 2015 Capital Projects, Firehall #6 upgrades.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The existing bedrock under the parking area of Firehall #6 has formed pockets that retain water, which resulted in the heaving of the driveway, and a three-foot by six-foot pothole. Previous attempts to fill the pothole have failed.
The project involves removing the existing driveway and bedrock; installing a drain tile and other measures to control any water infiltration; filling with appropriate soil materials; replacing the asphalt with concrete; and updating the curb, gutter, and sidewalk.
Completion of this project will control the groundwater under the driveway, make the sidewalk ADA compliant, and result in reduced maintenance to the fire rigs that house out of Firehall #6.
