Title
Arrowhead Library System Report August 2026
Text
The Arrowhead Library System (ALS) Board met on June 11, 2026.
• ALS will provide a new PC for each affiliated public library building (29 total) within the next several months. This will ensure every library has at least one updated staff computer where ALS software works, the PC is safe from cybersecurity concerns, and staff can efficiently provide services to local patrons.
• The executive director is working with State Library Services to offer Public Library Trustee Training in Fall 2026.
• Bookmobile service to Hermantown (every three weeks) will be relocated to the Hermantown City Hall parking lot in October. Current site is the now closed Marcus Cinema parking lot.
• ALS met with Public Library Directors in May, gathering feedback on areas to improve or be more helpful. Biggest request was more OverDrive/Libby downloadable e-books, audiobooks and magazines.
• Upcoming ALS Legacy Youth Services Programming for member libraries (including Duluth):
o September: Sand Painting and Rangoli with Shakun Maheshwari
o September/October: The Skally Line (traditional, foot-stomping music paired with enduring stories about Minnesota people)
o October/November: Soldiers of the American Revolution with Arn Kind
