Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to amend contract L30533 with Employee Strategies Inc. for consultation services at the main library in the amount of $32,500, and a new total amount not to exceed $51,595, payable from fund no. 110-121-1218-5319 (general fund; property, parks & libraries; library services; other professional services).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes an amendment to contract L30533 with Employee Strategies Inc. for ongoing consultation services at the main library for an additional $32,500, and a new total amount not to exceed $51,595.00.

The services are intended to evaluate and improve the workplace culture at the Duluth Public Library. The overall goal is to develop and enhance workplace culture and increase employee engagement and retention to the benefit of library employees and patrons.

The first phase of the contract for $19,095 focused on meeting and surveying staff to better understand their experiences working at DPL.

The second phase of work to be authorized by this resolution focuses on designing and planning improvements that help increase trust and workplace engagement.

The services will be paid for by funds allotted to Library payroll in the 2021 General Fund budget that the City significantly underspent in the first half of the year in association with the still ongoing process of refilling Library positions vacated during the 2020 pandemic.
