Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes acceptance of a $22,000 donation from the generous community members, friends, and loved ones of the Barry family. The donation will support playground improvements at Chester Park in honor and memory of Riana (age 44), Sean (age 47), Shiway (age 12), and Sadie Barry (age 9), whose lives were tragically taken by gun violence on April 20, 2022. Improvements include the addition of a new spinner element and an accessible swing, converting the fall zone from sand to engineered wood fiber, incorporating an accessible pathway to the playground, and installing a memorial bench in remembrance of the Barry family.
