RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $115,000 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING ADDITIONAL TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT ALONG SKYLINE PARKWAY AND GRAND AVENUE IN DULUTH AS PART OF THE 2025 SAFE ROAD ZONE GRANT PROGRAM.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept a grant award from the state of Minnesota, department of public safety, office of traffic safety, in the amount of $115,000, substantially the same as Document A for the purpose of adding traffic enforcement to increase public safety along the Skyline Parkway and Grand Avenue corridors as part of the 2025 safe road zone grant program, funds to be deposited in Fund No. 215-200-2245 (Duluth police grant programs, police, Safe Road Zone Grant Program).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the proper city officials to accept a grant from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, for the purpose of adding additional traffic enforcement patrols along the Skyline Parkway and Grand Avenue corridors. The additional enforcement would occur during a 10-month period with the goal of increasing public safety along those corridors. The grant period runs from June 15, 2024 through June 30, 2025.
