RESOLUTION RESCINDING RESOLUTION 19-0764 AND PROHIBITING TRUCK TRAFFIC ON PIEDMONT AVENUE FROM WEST FIRST STREET TO TRUNK HIGHWAY 53.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that Section 33-49 of the City of Duluth Legislative Code allows for the establishment of truck routes in the city of Duluth.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that resolution 19-0764 allowing trucks to use Piedmont Avenue from Third Street to Trunk Highway 53 is hereby rescinded.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that truck traffic will be prohibited on the segment of Piedmont Avenue between First Street and Trunk Highway 53, unless a permit has been issued.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that Resolution 19-0764 rescinded Resolution 13-0364 prohibiting trucks on the segment of Piedmont Avenue from First Street to Trunk Highway 53.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This section of Piedmont Avenue is currently open to truck traffic due to the work on the Twin Ports Interchange project by MnDOT. Resolution 19-0764 called for the temporary opening of this route to facilitate truck movement to Highway 53 without using the surrounding neighborhood streets. The prohibition of truck traffic was intended to be returned once the interchange was reopened to the public. While the full interchange is not reopened, access to Trunk Highway 53 is now open to the interchange at 21st Avenue West, allowing trucks to access Trunk Highway 53 at that location.
