Title

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN ST. LOUIS COUNTY, THE CITY OF DULUTH AND THE CITY OF PROCTOR TO COMPLETE A SURFACE REHABILITATION PROJECT WITHIN THE CITIES OF DULUTH AND PROCTOR.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement between St. Louis County, the city of Duluth and the city of Proctor, substantially in the form attached hereto as exhibit A, to provide for payment by the city to the county of the city’s share of costs of the full depth reclamation project on Boundary Avenue from Fifth Street to Ninth Street, at an estimated cost to the city of Duluth of $100,000, payable from Municipal State Aid funds, city project no. 1502. Project costs payable from Permanent Improvement Fund 411-035-5530 (PI Fund, Capital Projects, Improvements Other Than Buildings).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes an agreement with St. Louis County to pay the city’s share of the cost to complete a full depth reclamation project on Boundary Avenue from Fifth Street to Ninth Street.  This portion of Boundary Avenue has Proctor on the east and Duluth on the west; therefore, the city of Duluth is responsible for maintaining its share.  Because St. Louis County is performing similar work, it offered to bid this work, Proctor’s project and the county work together for better efficiency on engineering and construction costs for Duluth and Proctor.  The total estimated cost for the full depth reclamation is $200,000, with the estimated cost to the city of Duluth to be $100,000, payable from Municipal State Aid funds.
