RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT 24389 WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO INCREASE THE PAYMENT FROM THE STATE TO THE CITY FOR ROAD LIFE CONSUMED BY A DETOUR FOR HIGHWAY 23 TRAFFIC BY $2,069.65 FOR A NEW TOTAL OF $3,129.71.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute an amendment to agreement 24389, attached as Exhibit A, with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to provide additional compensation to the City of Duluth in the amount of $2,069.65 for a new total of $3,129.71 for maintenance and road life consumed as part of the Highway 23 detour.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Engineer is authorized to execute any additional amendments to the Agreement.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes an increase to the compensation paid by the State to the City for wear and maintenance of West Gary Street under agreement 24389 due to a longer detour duration than originally planned by the State for work being performed on Trunk Highway 23.
Additionally, as requested by the state and to respect City Councilors’ time, the resolution authorizes the City Engineer to execute additional amendments to this agreement, if any.
