RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF A MINNESOTA RECREATION AND PARKS FOUNDATION NEW INITIATIVE GRANT OF $4,000 FOR PROGRAMMING EQUIPMENT.

CITY PROPOSAL:
WHEREAS, resolution 23-0857R authorized application to the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Foundation New Initiative Grant Program for up to $4,000 for new program equipment, and the application was approved.
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept and execute the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Foundation New Initiative Grant Program agreement, substantially in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A, to support the purchase of fishing equipment to be used in City parks in an amount not to exceed $4,000, with said funds to be deposited into 205-130-1220-CM205-PRGRMG-MRPF (Parks fund - community resources - ).
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City has the legal authority to apply for financial assistance, and the institutional, managerial, and financial capability to ensure proper planning and maintenance of the program. The City will meet the required match through in-kind staff time for implementation of the program.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Duluth City Council names the fiscal agent for this project as Jen Carlson, City of Duluth Finance Director, 411 West First Street, Duluth, MN 55802.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes acceptance of a Minnesota Recreation and Parks Foundation New Initiative Grant in an amount not to exceed $4,000. The grant funds will be used to purchase fishing equipment and support programming that will promote discovery, appreciation, and stewardship of Duluth's 16 designated trout streams. Staff time for implementation of the programming will be the in-kind match for the grant. By offering programs throughout Duluth at no-to-low cost to participants, and using creativity about the physical accessibility of spaces, the new programs will reduce barriers to outdoor recreation.
