RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE NEW CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION OF WATER PLANT MAINTENANCE OPERATOR, AND SPECIFYING CONTRACT BENEFITS FOR SAME.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proposed specifications for the new civil service classification of water plant maintenance operator (attached as Exhibit A), which were approved by the civil service board on March 4, 2025, are approved. This classification shall be subject to the city's collective bargaining agreement with its basic unit employees; and that pay range for said classification shall be Range 34, pay rate of $73,678 to $86,308 per year.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The new classification of water plant maintenance operator has been created to assist the Water System Maintenance Foreperson with maintenance and repair of the Water Treatment Plant and pump stations and operate when necessary, including times of vacancies, illness, and emergencies. This position is to provide a continuity/redundancy in the maintenance and operations Treatment Plant Operations and Systems. The pay range negotiated for the classification is Range 34, pay rate of $73,678 to $86,308 per year.
