RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A FIRST AMENDMENT TO  A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - VETERAN SERVICES FOR PROVIDING STAFFING SERVICES AT THE DULUTH CAREERFORCE CENTER ADDING STATE-MANDATED CONTRACT LANGUAGE.

CITY PROPOSAL:

Resolved, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute a first amendment to the joint powers agreement between the state of Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development - Veteran Services and the city (city contract no. 24797), adding state mandated contract language which does not change the nature of the agreement; said first amendment to be substantially in the form of the attached Document A.

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  This resolution authorizes an amendment to an agreement with DEED-VS pursuant to which the city provides staffing services at the CareerForce Center.  DEED-VS is responsible for providing reception and career lab personnel staffing under an Infrastructure Funding Agreement at the Duluth CareerForce location.  Instead of providing personnel to meet its staffing obligations, DEED-VS agreed to pay the city to provide those services for the period of March 1, 2024, through June 30, 2026.  The city has the capacity and ability to provide the staffing services.  The contract amendment adds state-required contract language and does not change the nature of the agreement.
