ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTIONS 34-45.1 THROUGH 34-45.5 OF THE CITY CODE RELATING TO FACE COVERINGS.

The city of Duluth does ordain:
Section 1. That Sections 34-45.1 through 34-45.5 of the Duluth City Code, related to the requirement for face coverings in indoor spaces of public accommodation, is hereby repealed in its entirely.
Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days from and after its passage and publication.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this ordinance is to repeal Sections 34-45.1 through 34-45.5 of the Duluth City Code which were enacted by emergency Ordinance 10708 on July 13, 2020, to require face coverings in indoor spaces of public accommodation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) advised that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a face covering in any setting.
