RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT FROM THE CENTER FOR WORKFORCE INCLUSION, IN AN AMOUNT OF $227,885 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES TO OLDER ADULTS.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to enter into a grant agreement with the Center for Workforce Inclusion, substantially in the form of Exhibit A, and accept a grant in the amount of $227,885 with said funds to be deposited into Senior Program Fund 270, Grants Division Agency 031, SCSEP SSAI Federal Organization 6330, for the purpose of proving community service employment opportunities to older adults, with matching funds in the amount of $31,311 to be provided through in-kind contributions of local agencies’ supervisory time and/or indirect costs.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the city of Duluth, workforce development department, to accept a grant in the amount of $227,885 from the Center for Workforce Inclusion, to provide community service employment opportunities to older adults.  A request for the same was made prior of this Council and passed on July 29, 2024 as resolution 24-0564R for the amount of $224,807.  After passage, the funds were increased by $3,078.  Because the prior agreement for $224,807 was not fully executed prior to the increase, the request here is simply to authorize the full amount as a complete agreement rather than for an amendment.  The grant period is July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.  This request is budgeted through Workforce Development grant funds, and is operational in nature.
