Title

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH CIRRUS DESIGN CORPORATION TO ACCEPT REIMBURSEMENT FOR COST OF CONSTRUCTING A RECTANGULAR RAPID FLASHING BEACON SYSTEM ALONG AIRPORT ROAD IN THE AMOUNT OF $55,000.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Cirrus Design Corporation, substantially in the form of that attached hereto, to accept reimbursement from Cirrus Design Corporation for the total project cost of constructing a rectangular rapid flashing beacon system along Airport Road, in an estimated amount of $55,000, payable to Fund 411 (Permanent Improvement Fund), Department 035, Object 4654, City Project Number 2226.

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes an agreement with Cirrus Design Corporation to accept reimbursement from Cirrus Design Corporation for the total cost of constructing and installing a rectangular rapid flashing beacon system along Airport Road and Ralston Drive.

Cirrus Drive can be heavily trafficked with pedestrians when shifts change at their facilities on Airport Drive. After reviewing concerns of their staff, City staff proposes to install and maintain a rapid rectangular flashing beacon system to enhance the existing crosswalks in place on Cirrus Drive.

A “rectangular rapid flashing beacon” is a warning device which flashes when activated by a pedestrian to warn vehicles approaching an intersection that the pedestrian will be crossing the road. For those unfamiliar with it, such a device is currently in place on Woodland Avenue.

As this request is driven by Cirrus, they have agreed to reimburse the City for the full price of installation. The City would agree to maintain the system. The reimbursement is payable to the Permanent Improvement Fund 411, Department 035, Object 5530, City Project 2226.
