CITY PROPOSAL:

BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized to execute a license agreement with the Duluth Boat Club, substantially in the form of Exhibit 1, for use of certain property in Park Point for operation of their boating activities through December 31, 2030, at no cost to the City.

 

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a license agreement, substantially in the form of Exhibit 1, with the Duluth Boat Club (DBC) for use of specified City property on Park Point for operation of their boating activities through December 31, 2030. The property is a five-acre sandy waterfront site on the bayside of Park Point accessible from 13 Avenue South.

Under the agreement, DBC may use the premises to store boats and host social events for members, guests, and its six nonprofit affiliates - Northland Adaptive Recreation, the Duluth Rowing Club, the Duluth Superior Sailing Association, the Duluth Sail and Power Squadron, the Duluth Yacht Club, and the Duluth Superior Dragon Boat Club.

DBC aims to enable people of all ages, skill levels, abilities, and financial to access water sports recreation, instruction and competition and advocates for boating as a beneficial activity for individuals, families and groups. DBC has performed these services at this location for nearly 25 years and closely collaborates with partner non-profits.
