Title

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A THREE-YEAR LEASE AGREEMENT WITH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 709 FOR CONTINUED USE OF SPACE IN THE WASHINGTON CENTER FOR ITS HEAD START AND EARLY CHILDHOOD FAMILY EDUCATION PROGRAMS.

Body

CITY PROPOSAL:

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute a three-year lease agreement, substantially the same as the agreement attached as Exhibit 1, with Independent School District No. 709, for the continued use of space in the Washington Center.  Monthly rent payments will be $1,760.27 during the first year of the agreement, with an annual increase of four percent (4%).  Funds received under this agreement shall be deposited into Fund 110-121-1222-4622 (general fund, public administration, facilities management, rent of buildings).

Statement of Purpose

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a three-year lease agreement with Independent School District No. 709 (ISD 709) for the continued use of space in the Washington Recreation Center for its Head Start and Early Childhood Family Education programs.  ISD provides information and support for parents and their young children from birth through three (3) years of age through educational programming and related services.

In consideration for the use of space, ISD 709 will initially pay the City an annual rent of $21,123.20 in 2025, which is an increase of nearly $3600 from last year. Each year of the agreement will have a four percent (4%) annual increase.  In addition, ISD 709 will pay $100 per month for garbage and recycling services throughout the entire term.  ISD 709 will have exclusive use of four rooms, totaling 3,280 square feet, and is responsible to maintain its exclusive space.  The City is responsible to provide electric, natural gas, water and sewer utility at its own expense and perform major repairs and non-routine maintenance to the leased premises.
