RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH, AND ACCEPT $50,000 IN FUNDS FROM THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (DEED) TO PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING SERVICES FOR PARTICIPANTS IN THE SERVICE TO SUCCESS PROGRAM.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute and implement an agreement, substantially in the form of Exhibit A, with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development’s Office of Public Service and to accept funds in an amount not to exceed $50,000, to provide training, career counseling, and employment services to AmeriCorps members and other public service participants to facilitate their transition into post-service employment while helping meet critical workforce needs in our region for the period of July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. Monies received under this agreement will be deposited into and paid from fund 268 (workforce development), agency 031 (grants division), organization 6228 (miscellaneous).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes proper city officials to enter into an agreement with, and accept funds in an amount not to exceed $50,000 from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development’s Office of Public Service to provide training, career counseling, and employment services to AmeriCorps members and other public service participants to facilitate their transition into post-service employment while helping meet critical workforce needs in our region for the period of July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. Funding will support employment and training services that help AmeriCorps members transition into sustainable careers by aligning their service experiences with industry-recognized occupations and creating intentional bridges from service to the workforce. Monies received under this agreement will be deposited into and paid from Fund 268 (workforce development), Agency 031 (grants division), Organization 6228 (miscellaneous). Thirty (30) participants are expected to be served during the grant period, and at least ten (10) will co-enroll in other workforce development programs to access training and other supports. This request is budgeted through Workforce Development grant funds and is operational in nature.
