RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT FROM THE LOCAL INITIATIVES SUPPORT CORPORATION (LISC) AS PART OF THE CONNECTED MN GRANT, IN AN AMOUNT OF $60,000 FOR THE PURPOSE OF COORDINATING THE DIGITAL NAVIGATOR PROGRAM.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are authorized to enter into a grant agreement with Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) substantially in the form of Exhibit A, and accept a grant in the amount of $60,000, said funds to be deposited into account number 268-031-6228-WD28-LISC, for the purpose of providing training and staff time to coordinate placement of eight Digital Navigators with community organizations to assist with digital literacy and access needs. Duluth Workforce Development will also provide career services to Digital Navigators, to assist them with their own employment and educational goals.
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the city of Duluth, workforce development department, to accept a grant in the amount of $60,000 from Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC).as part of the Connected MN grant, to provide training and staff time to coordinate placement of eight Digital Navigators with community organizations to assist with digital literacy and access needs. The grant period is November 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021.
