RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF GAS METERS FROM GROEBNER & ASSOCIATES, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $240,020.00.

RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to contract with Groebner & Associates, Inc. (Groebner) for the purchase of gas meters in the amount of $240,020.00, payable from 520-500-1940-2410-5227 (gas, Public Works and Utilities, customer services, service, utility system mtc supplies).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes the purchase of 2,000 gas meters from Groebner in the amount of $240,020.00 plus shipping.
The Sensus 275 residential gas meter is utilized by the City of Duluth’s gas utility for replacement, maintenance and new installations in accordance with the Operation and Maintenance manual. Groebner is the regional authorized supplier of Rockwell size 275 and 415 gas meters. This meter is currently deployed across the City of Duluth and is configured to be compatible with the City’s current Itron meter reading system. The City’s meter shop staff has the proprietary training to configure, program, repair and test the Sensus 275 meters. This meter has been proven to accurately operate in Duluth’s climate and has broad flow capabilities allowing for use in multiple applications. This purchase is a budgeted expense. The City anticipates needing to replace all meters citywide over the next few years and this purchase will aid in accomplishing this goal.
