RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A THREE-YEAR AGREEMENT WITH JUNGLE BOY BOXING GYM FOR THE LEASE AND OPERATION OF THE OBSERVATION COMMUNITY CENTER FOR ITS YOUTH BOXING PROGRAM.

CITY PROPOSAL:
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to execute a three-year agreement, substantially the same as the agreement attached as Exhibit 1, with Jungle Boy Boxing Gym, for the lease and operation of the Observation Community Center. Funds received under this agreement shall be deposited into Fund 205-130-1219-4622-01 (Parks Fund, Community Resources, Parks Operating, Rent of Buildings Community Centers).
Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This resolution authorizes a three-year agreement with Jungle Boy Boxing Gym (“Jungle Boy”) for the lease and operation of the Observation Community Center for its youth boxing program. Jungle Boy’s boxing program teaches skill development and creates and nurtures personal fitness and behavioral goals. Jungle Boy has leased this space from the City for the past six years, with its current agreement soon expiring.
In partial consideration of this agreement, Jungle Boy will pay a monthly rent of $220, with a three percent (3%) annual increase during each year of the agreement. In addition, Jungle Boy is responsible for the general operation and management of Observation Community Center. These duties include public access to the building when Jungle Boy operates it program, routine cleaning and general maintenance duties, and supervision of rentals of the building, among others. Jungle Boy is also responsible to pay for all utilities servicing the building. The reduced monthly rate is contingent upon Jungle Boy’s operation of its youth boxing program and management duties of the building.
Under the terms of the agreement, either party may terminate the agreement with sixty (60) days’ written notice.
